Snow Observation

This is not my first snow, however my mom and I noticed something really really surprising. I have seen symbols to represent snow. See below different ways snow is symbolized.

I used to wonder how somebody arrived at this kind of a symbol for something that just looks like rice flakes.

But today I was wearing a black coat when I went out with my son to see and feel the first snow for us in Atlanta, I was surprised to see that the symbol was just not somebody's imagination but a drawing of what actually comes naturally.
